& Jeglic, E. L. study the relationship between individual family structure
factors to adulthood sexual offending behaviors. They want to explore the
causes of juvenile sexual offending and find out whether family factors is part
of the reasons. The authors uses archival data collected from the files of
2,771 convicted sexual offenders.They study offender’s family backgrounds in
order to examine the relationship between family composition with the number
and types of sexual offenses. Finally researchers discovered that the guardian
of young offender and the surrounding have direct effects on his/or her
behaviors.
As scholars in
psychology, O'Toole, M. J., & Jeglic, E. L. are fully aware of situational
variables, such as different races, religions and social classes all may affect
the result of the study. So they pick large amout of samples from wide range
populations and study them individually. The study supports my paper and my
claim of how family factors lead to
juvenile delinquency. The result of this
study proves that my topic, which family factors do play a big role in young
offenders’ life.

Horwood, J. Observed 1,265 children born in Christcurch,New Zealand, urban region in mid 1977 to age 21. The purpose of the research is to find out how childhood socio-economic
disadvantages cause varies of problems and examine the “linkages” between crime and socio-disadvantages. It is very controversy, which many people
argues that economic disadvantage is not a excuse for offending. However , as
the result of the study, the authors find out child who born in low SES family
has over 3 times chance to commit crime than people who born in high SES.
The source is credible since it is a large
research project and the study objects were real people chosed from specific
area. The source was in a nutrual position which it does not clearly state
whether something is good or bad. They only observe the facts and record the
data. The study of socio-disadvantages enrich my knowledge, It tells that the
economic condition and social class of a family also affects the behavior of
young children.
